Distance Learning Discussions
Distance learning has been gaining ground on traditional learning for quite some time now. Technology has allowed us to make huge leaps, and in a time when we need to look at every option to reduce costs, distance learning has been growing as well. However, in my opinion distance learning will never be a good as traditional learning. It is like the difference between talking to someone on the phone or talking to them in person. When you talk to them over the phone, you can her their voice, but you cannot tell what their body language is like. When you talk to someone face to face, it opens up a much deeper communication channel. The gap between a face to face conversation and a phone call is similar to the gap between distance learning and traditional learning.
IT Certifications
If you have no idea what to do in life, I would look into IT. The IT job market is constantly growing, and IT people get paid so much! The key is simply to be certified in all of these IT languages and operating systems. There are hundreds of schools that will prepare you to take the certification tests, and the certifications only take about three months to complete. Each time you complete a certification you also take a pay raise too. I had an IT professor is college who would lay out a plan to reach a minimum of $100k a year for any student willing to work hard. He worked with a few friends of mine, and they each are doing very well, even in these tough economic times.
Computer Commercial Power
I own a MacBook. It has been fine. I wouldn’t say I love it at all, in fact I feel like it has a ton of problems. All of those commercials with the “I’m a Mac, and I’m a P.C.” are true, but they leave out a ton of other problems Macs have. I have been getting more and more unsatisfied with my Mac also because of the commercials that show just how much cheaper PC’s are. They really are so much cheaper, and they have larger hard drives, screens, and graphic capabilities. Sure, MacBooks have some fun built in applications, but I would be more than happy to not have those applications and have half of my money back. MacBooks are fun, but they sometimes seem a little extravagant and not worth the money to me.
