I live in Utah, and a law was recently changed that I am so happy about. Previously, Utah was known for its odd liquor laws, one in particular, and that law had to do with bars. Each bar had to be a “private club,” and what that meant is each time someone came in they had to either purchase a membership to the club or be with a member. The additional membership fee was annoying, but the worst part having to fill out a form with all of your information on it so that the bar could show state officials it had a membership system. Well, thankfully that law went away about a week ago and now out of state people will think we are a little less weird.

Personal injury attorneys get a bad rep sometimes because they take some odd cases. Most of the time, it isn’t the attorney that comes to the client and tells them they should sue someone because their coffee cups didn’t have a warning label on them. It is the client that comes up with the idea that they were treated unfairly, and they go on to find a slightly crazy lawyer who will take their slightly stupid case. One out of a hundred of these weird cases results in compensation, and then that spurs a whole new crowd of desperate people trying to get funds they really don’t deserve from a company that may or may not have actually hurt them.
