Traveling to a place like Las Vegas is fun, well for about a day. I love to gamble. I think it is a fun, time-consuming event that is really social. However, I cannot spend more than one or two days max in a place like Vegas because no matter frugal you are, and no matter how slow you play a game like roulette, i.e. never betting anything more than the minimum, you still lose about $40 an hour. I simply plan on losing money when I gamble, and consider it more paying for a good time. I always want to keep playing, but it just costs too much money if I stay for more than about a day. I usually try to stop somewhere in Nevada whenever I go to California, but only for a day or two.

Sometimes you get gifts that are useless. You know you won’t ever use them, but you are still thankful you received them. I have a set of grandparents that give me pointless gifts, but the message the gifts bring is sweet. I routinely get a mini-first aid kit, or a roadside assistance kit, or a waterproof rechargeable flashlight. The gifts they get me always show how much they want me to be safe. It is really nice that they care so much, and just want what’s best for me. Now, when I purchase gifts for other people, I do not think so much about what they want, but rather what would show them I care about them.

I am always looking for fun things to do, however, the other night I kind of ran out of ideas, so I wanted to try something new. My friend suggested bowling. I have been bowling maybe twice in my life, and so I really had no idea if I would like it or not. We went on a Friday night to go “Midnight Bowling.” They turn off all the normal lights and turn on black lights and play music videos throughout the place. It was so fun! Bowling is such a social sport. You can talk to people the entire time, yet you are still thoroughly entertained and you have an activity to occupy and break up any awkward time. Ever since that night, bowling has become a bi-weekly event with my friends.
